Kindness. Curiosity. Mindfulness.

Each Alba nursery is unique.  Each reflects the makeup of the pupils attending it and also the staff team that runs it.  But what is common across the group is our overall approach. It is rooted in a simple concept - if we spark in a child a thirst for learning, everything they do, everything they come across, presents an opportunity for growth.

This mentality is at the core of everything we do.

Because each child learns differently, we focus on intuitive ways for children to engage with and discover the world around them. We also take every opportunity to develop Kindness, Curiosity and Mindfulness in each child.

 

Our curriculum is also unique. Each week focuses on a specific topic, presenting pupils with plenty of different activities and opportunities to encounter a specific concept. Science has proven that this is the most effective way to help children learn new things and to make connections between concepts in their brains.

Our curriculum provides a skeleton for our planning for each week but it is our practitioners that truly make it shine.  They are each empowered to come up with ideas on the best way to implement it for their specific pupils, taking their individual needs into account and helping each pupil grow. 

 

From art projects to science experiments, from plants and animals to yoga, music and mindfulness - each day is different and fun.

Three threads run through every topic: 

 

1) looking after yourself - health, emotional resilience, etc.,

2) looking after those around us - social interactions, kindness, friendships, 

3) looking after our planet - sustainability, where things come from, what happens to them after they are thrown away​
